Re-Introduction to me, blog writing and the internal ramblings of a borderline crazy person. Shhhh!! Don’t tell anyone I’m not actually crazy!

Can you believe I’ve been doing this for almost a year! I thought i should take the time to re-introduce myself to those who’ve been here for a while and say welcome to all my new followers and give them the chance to catch up.

I’m Bec, I’m 37 I am coffee fuelled and swear more than I should. I’m married to Darcy and he’s a mechanic. Together we have our own business Remote Mechanical and we are second time arounders (not officially a word, but you get it) and together we have 8 kids! Yes 8 kids. So I started 3plus5 as an outlet, an online community to share life with BIG BLENDED FAMILY.

Darcy and I have been together for 6 years and married for 3. Our eldest child is 15 and our youngest child is 6. In case you were wondering why 3PLUS5, the name came about initially because I have 3 kids and he has 5. We then realised it also represents 3 boys and 5 girls. Then just recently after another birthday It also covers the fact we have 3 little kids and 5 teenagers. I also had my number plate personalised to represent our family name.

Recently I’ve been having trouble trying to find my writing groove, I have sooo much in my head and little time to put words to paper……… I mean fingers to keyboard. This means I have several drafts started and not completed because often they are half typed in the car at school pick up time.

I want to spill out all the trials and tribulations of shared parenting with 8 kids but the truth is, it really isn’t that interesting. I just want others to now that they aren’t alone. Then when it IS interesting I can’t usually share the gory details out of fear of retribution or retaliation. I’m sure you would all love to hear The Lala Loopsy incident of 2013 or the The boil and nit infestation incident of 2015. So ridiculous, that if you don’t laugh you’ll cry. Honestly though I’m sure there are people out there going through worse than us.

So instead, I share everyday large family life, epic dinners, full laundry baskets and mountains of folding. Budget tips and tricks that I’ve picked up along the way. Some really helpful and useful mum hacks and others not so much. I’ll tell you what we try, what works for us and what doesn’t, while trying to keep relatively sane.

Sometimes we fight, sometimes we are stressed out and tired, sometimes we wonder if we are doing a good job and sometimes we get it wrong but everyday we get up and give it a red hot shot.

If you are a blended family; or know one please share and like our page. Also checkout “His,Hers and ours” on Facebook. An online support page for parents and step parents.
