What’s The “Mum code” when it comes to teens and social media?

As you know Mickalee got a phone for Christmas and she joined Instagram. She added all of us to her account, as well as several of her friends. Her phone is too old for snap chat, but I assume that will come later.
When she got her phone we spoke about stranger danger, only adding people you know, sexting and posts never really being deleted just to name a few. Which I’m sure you’ve all done when your kids got their phones.
We also have house rules, like no phone in your bedroom at bedtime as well as random check in’s to see who they are messaging, adding etc. which will have to be monitored and possibly tweaked a little as unforeseen things pop up. What I do know for certain is, rules will be broken and we will all learn along the way.
We are all a bit careful when it comes to the internet, especially when it comes to our kids. We have heard time and time again of the dangers and as parents we try and protect them a bit. Teens ARE going to push boundaries, and teens ARE going to make mistakes and even the most cautious parents may find themselves dealing an unexpected issue.
Our boys have had phones and social media for a while, it happened around us and we had to implement rules as things came up and touch wood we have had any major issues. We still do spot checks on them, but at this stage. One watches soccer videos on you tube. The other, Fortnite hacks.
Anyway, yesterday while on Instagram one of the girls friends Instagram stories showed one of those question games. Someone asks questions, while the poster answers them. Keeping in mind I’m talking about 12 and 13 year olds. A few of the questions (is your pu*** used? Is my cock big?)set off little bells in my head. I am aware they are probably blown out of proportion a bit to “look cool”, but DO I TELL HER MUM?? She may have already seen it. Even so, if this was my kids I think I’d want to know.

Yes, we as parents help each other, not to dob but to eliminate dangers lurking.
In the kids defence. She wasn’t the one writing the questions. Just answering them….. you can’t approach it with a “well I never” attitude because as soon as you do it will bite you on the arse and your kid will do worse. 😂
